Greetings! My name is R.C. Griffin and I am the pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Monticello, FL. We are so glad that you have found our home here on the web and would be delighted to have you join us for worship on Sunday morning, Bible Study on Wednesday evening, or one of our many fellowship opportunities. Here at FPC Monticello, we are a welcoming congregation, committed to reaching out as we seek to share God’s word, mercy, and grace.
As for me, I grew up in Southern California, graduating from Fresno Pacific University with a B.A. Biblical and Religious Studies (’99). After my undergraduate studies, I spent eleven years working as a Campus Minister in Northwest Pennsylvania, earning an M.A. Higher Education from Geneva College in 2003. It was in Pennsylvania that I met my lovely wife Gretchen and where we had two of our three boys – yes, we have three boys (Jude, Asher, and Amos)! In 2010, I began my studies at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA, graduating with an M.Div. (’13) and a ThM. (’14). Currently, I am a PhD. candidate at Florida State University studying Religion. This is my first call as a pastor and it has been a joy to partner with the good folks here at FPC Monticello.
We are so grateful for the warm hospitality of this congregation as they welcomed us with open arms, enthusiastic spirits, and gracious support. We trust that you too will feel the same warm welcome. From weekly Bible Study, adult and children’s education, inviting worship, fellowship opportunities, community outreach, and opportunities for kids of all ages, there is a place for everyone here to seek and discover who God is calling us to be. We hope to live together faithfully, seeking God’s guidance as we go along the way.
So come join us! We’d love for you to be a part of our family.
